Paaneah Foundation is an indigenous non-governmental adolescent and youth-focused organisation and in line with its mission “to catalyse, promote, and support the development and well-being of adolescents and youths, particularly the most vulnerable groups, so as to attain excellence in every dimension of life”, held her annual “Summer Skill Acquisition Programme” between August 8th and 19th, 2022.

The Summer Skill Acquisition Programme is an annual programme that is aimed at empowering and equipping the youths, mostly, the vulnerable groups around Ota, Ogun State with necessary and relevant skills to enable them to compete in the fast-growing and expanding labour market where academic skills are no longer enough to be relevant.

Like every year, this year focused on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skill acquisition.

The overall goal and objective of the programme was to orientate, equip and empower the young people with the basics of ICT knowledge and skills both in theories and practices, this was greatly achieved as described below via the day by day detailed analysis of the programme.

The Post-test questions were designed as a test of the technical usage and knowledge gained during the course of the programme.

Also, below are excerpts of what the participant said when asked about their experience during the course of the programme.

“I met students from different schools at the training and this really made it very interesting. We were trained on computer skills which really helped me widen my scope of computer knowledge. The hall we used for the training was well ventilated and we were also taught morals” – Rachael Adeniji

“My experience in Paaneah Foundation is all about grabbing, learning and identifying some part of the computer and how to operate the computer system. I was able to know more about the computer, how to identify things on the computer and how to connect projector and computer together” – Fareedah Adewale

“At Paaneah Foundation, I gained a lot of things at their two weeks training that I cannot gain in a one month training. A lot of things we were suppose to be paying for, they did them for free, Paaneah Foundation, they are God-sent. I enjoyed my two weeks training at Paaneah Foundation” – Deborah Tibetan

“My experience at Paaneah Foundation Summer Skill Acquisition Programme was great. It is a joy for me to have a golden opportunity like this. Paaneah Foundation is an environment that is conducive for learning. Paaneah Foundation abide by rules and regulations. They are also diligent and hardworking.” Sururat Ishola

“There is something about Paaneah Foundation, we work and play, that makes our classes more interesting. My experience at Paaneah Foundation was very great and interesting. I wish we can still continue the summer skill acquisition programme.” – Covenant Obarotimi

“In Paaneah Foundation, it was fun for me, why because it was a free lecture for everyone of us there. The summer skill acquisition programme at Paaneah Foundation helped me to know more about ICT.” – Bello Ayomide

Lastly, the programme ended with a mini closing ceremony programme that featured talent display session, film show session and presentation of certificate of award of excellence to the top three over all best participants of the programme.
