PAANEAH FOUNDATION CELEBRATES THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL-CHILD 2019 IN STYLE
The international day of the girl-child is a United Nations celebration that is set to celebrate the girl-child annually. This year the theme is titled GIRLFORCE; UNSCRIPTED AND UNSTOPPABLE! For the first time in our organisation, the event was celebrated in the community through a community awareness campaign strategy.
Aside from our indoor activities that included watching short documentaries about the Girl-Child and her life experiences, challenges and way forward, we broke into groups to discuss about the girl child and how they can indeed be UNSCRIPTED AND UNSTOPPABLE in our communities, schools and wherever we find ourselves. The girls were also engaged in an interactive power-point presentation on Life skill sets. We crowned the celebration with our outdoor activity where we embarked on our community campaign rally, expressing our desires and educating the populace about this years’ theme.
Despite the continued heavy rains of the day, we had a total of 31 girls and 7 boys between the ages 11 and 19 years in attendance, 5 band boys and 4 staff members including the media team. It was indeed worthy of celebration as the girls are convinced to go and soar, they are empowered to go achieve their beautiful dreams, their confidence level is heightened and indeed they are proud to say they CANNOT be SCRIPTED NOR STOPPED in achieving greatness!
